Microtech Production Holdings plc was formed in 2000 and represents the final stages of a ten-year research and development programme to find alternative, environmentally friendly technologies to replace the harmful chemical products that were then, and are still, available. We have now developed a range of insect control traps, gardening, sports turf maintenance, agricultural and horticultural products that match these criteria.

The company is committed to the principles of the Zero Emissions Research Initiative (ZERI) launched at the United Nations University in Tokyo, Japan. The ZERI vision investigates a wide spectrum of materials perceived either as waste polluting the environment, under utilised products and products that as a raw material can be used for other value added products. The ShoreGrow™ ™ range of products was developed to achieve the total productivity of certain raw materials, namely Africa’s bio-resources.

Microtech is committed to the sustainable utilisation of natural resources. The raw materials are harvested in a sustainable and responsible manner from the shores of South Africa and Namibia. The pollution free, cold and nutrient rich waters of the southern oceans influence these coasts. The manufacturing process used for the production of ShoreGrow™ is environmentally friendly and there are no damaging side effects.

Our products are manufactured using the highest quality ingredients, all of which are from renewable and sustainable resources and where possible are certified as organic. The plastics used are 100% recyclable. The products use only natural, non-chemical, non-toxic ingredients and contain no artificial preservatives. They are harmless to both humans and animals and will not impact on the environment. The retail range is ready-to-use and there are no complicated dilution rates or wastage of time-expired concentrates.

In order to show our ongoing commitment to developing environmental products of the highest quality we are in the process of obtaining ISO 9000 certification. We are also applying for organic status through the Soil Association Certification Scheme, another guarantee of the standards to which our products are sourced and manufactured. We also employ a Biochemist linked to Plymouth University to ensure consistency of our products and to help develop our ever-increasing range. Field trials are carried out with the assistance and co-operation of the Universities of Cape Town and Witwatersrand in South Africa and with the University of Namibia.
